STATEMENT
My work transcends disciplines, oscillating between theory and practice and between the tactile and the symbolic.
Training as an anthropologist as well as that of a visual artist materialize in my works: highly manual, with a clear reference to crafts. The process of creating for me is a work of intimate research, looking for its external form. Experimenting with techniques that I am unfamiliar with is the pathway to continue surprising myself and from there continue developing as an artist.
Integrating anthropological perspectives (or even methodologies) in my work makes my projects gain depth and contextual relevance.

2019 Plastika 19, Museo do Mar de Galicia, Vigo, ES ("Anatomies of the heart" Contemporary collage. I use a schematic representation (like illustrations we might find in ancient human anatomy books) to create poetic maps of the heart. Exploring the layers that exist between how we show ourselves to the outside world and how we let our loved ones get closer to our core.
